On December 13, 2024, the new EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR) came into force, replacing the existing Directive 2001/95/EC.
This legislative change introduced updated requirements for the safety of consumer products in the EU market, strengthened market surveillance, and adjusted the responsibilities of economic operators.
The new GPSR regulation imposed stricter measures to protect consumers, improved product traceability, and increased the obligations of manufacturers and distributors regarding safety.
