On September 23, 2020, COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) 2020/1245 of September 2, 2020 entered into force, amending the provisions and correcting Regulation (EU) no. 10/2011 on materials and objects made of plastics intended for contact with foodstuffs.
Even though there is a transitional period, from 23.3.2021 it is not possible to put products on the market that do not meet this stricter standard. According to the old rules, it is possible to tolerate products on the market only until stocks are sold out. This Regulation significantly changes the scope of the assessment of migration of elements and primary aromatic amines and the method of assessment of products for repeated use.
